Automatic time announcements

Announcements of the hour, minutes and optionally seconds, assembled from your own recorded segments — at :00 and :30, only at :00 or every 15 minutes.

A small detail that gives the programme a recognisable rhythm

The time check is a classic radio element, but preparing it by hand requires either a presenter who is always there or a huge number of pre-recorded complete phrases. On Air Studio uses a modular approach: from a folder of audio elements, it assembles a sequence for the current hour, minute and, optionally, seconds.

How it works

You enable automatic announcements in the settings and choose the schedule: at :00 and :30, only at :00 or every 15 minutes. An intro can play before the announcement, and seconds are spoken rounded to the nearest 10. Based on the current time, the system finds the parts for the hour and minute, assembles them into a single sequence and plays it as a programme element.

Silence trim is also applied to the parts of the announcement, so that gaps between segments do not create an unnatural pause. The way the announcement goes to air is configurable, including waiting for a suitable moment or ducking over the music, and you can preview the announcement for the current time in Cue.

An example of use

A station wants time announcements on the hour and at half past. Record the required voice segments and set the folder — the system assembles the announcement from those elements at the right moment, instead of needing a separate complete file for every possible time.

What you get

  • automatic time identification;
  • a consistent voice and announcement format;
  • less manual work;
  • an optional intro element;
  • optional spoken seconds;
  • integration with silence trim.

What you need to prepare. The quality of the announcement depends on correctly named and complete audio segments in the folder. If the segment for a particular value is missing, the application cannot say what has not been recorded.
