What is On Air Studio?
On Air Studio is a Windows desktop application for radio stations: stable playback, programme organisation, automation and streaming in one program. It includes A/B players, a scheduler, a music library, ad blocks, Cue preview and built-in streaming. All modules are described on the Features page.
How can I try the program before buying?
Download the trial from the Download centre and use it for 72 hours in real broadcasting. You test the same logic that is used in real operation, without a complicated setup and with no obligation after the trial.
Do I have to replace my current system right away?
No. The trial is meant for testing in real broadcasting without having to replace the system you already use right away. You decide only after you have seen how the program works with your own programme.
Do I need a separate program for streaming?
No. Streaming is built in: the module sends the main programme to the server and passes on the metadata of what is on air, without additional programs.
Can On Air Studio run 24/7?
Yes, the system is designed for continuous radio automation. As with any broadcast computer, stability also depends on the Windows environment, audio drivers, network, server and hardware. Automation, resuming after a restart, the silence alarm, logs and automatic stream reconnection all help with long-term operation. Air Safety
Where can I find guides and help?
The knowledge base has guides for setup, broadcasting and troubleshooting. If you do not find an answer, send a support ticket or write to us via the Contact page.
Does the application make backups?
Yes, you set up automatic backup of working data by choosing a folder and a retention period. For serious recovery from a failure, a copy on another device or at another location is also recommended.
Does the application work without an internet connection?
Local playback and many functions work without the internet, but streaming, downloading artwork from the web, certain checks, remote notifications and the licence may require a network connection.
Can I change the audio devices?
Yes. You configure the main output, Cue device, microphone and streaming input according to the available hardware. Settings
Can I use a microphone directly in the programme?
Yes. The microphone feeds the internal master mix, with configurable music ducking and PTT. You can also work with an external mixer via the Line In input. Microphone and Line In
Is On Air Studio just a music player?
No. Playback is only one part of the system. The application brings together the library, A/B playlists, scheduler, ad breaks, Cue, cartwall, live microphone and Line In, streaming encoder, audio processing, metadata, listener statistics and operational safety functions. System overview
Can I prepare the next part of the programme while the current one is on air?
Yes, that is exactly what the A/B playlists are for. One playlist is active, while the other is edited and prepared for a later switch. A/B playlists and Shuffle
How does Shuffle keep the same artist from repeating?
Shuffle keeps track of recently played artists and avoids them for the configured number of upcoming tracks. If there are not enough other candidates, the system carries on with what is available — so the quality of the result also depends on the size of the playlist.
Can the application start scheduled content on its own?
Yes. The Scheduler keeps track of planned items and their times. There is also a maximum allowed delay, so that an event that has already lost its purpose does not start much later. Scheduler
Can I preview a song without sending it to air?
Yes, with Cue monitoring and a separate Cue audio output — provided the audio hardware is set up correctly. Cue monitoring
Does On Air Studio support ad breaks?
Yes. An ad break contains several items, an intro element and a target duration, and it goes to air immediately, after the current song or over the music with ducking. There are also campaigns and a broadcast record for verification. Ads and campaigns
What is the Cartwall?
A set of quick-access audio pads for jingles, drop-ins, effects and similar elements that must be available instantly during a live show — fired with a single click or the F1–F12 keys. Cartwall
Does it have audio processing?
Yes. The audio processor has an EQ, a three-band multiband compressor and a peak limiter. It is designed for controlling the sound, not for automatic “mastering without any settings”. Audio processor
What is silence trim?
The function analyses the empty space at the start and end of an audio file and trims it according to your settings, so that there are no unwanted gaps between elements. Silence trim and fades
Can the application announce the time?
Yes, if the required audio segments have been prepared. The system assembles the announcement from recorded parts for the hour, minute and optionally seconds. Time announcements
What does the AI advisor actually do?
It monitors the operational state — current and next content, stream status and the risk of artist repetition — and shows suggestions and a short overview of events. It does not edit the music programme by itself in place of a person. AI advisor
Are there logs of what was aired?
Yes. Broadcast reports record the programme elements, while technical logs are used to diagnose how the application and the stream are running.
What happens when the 72 hours are over?
If the system suits you, you continue with a licence without changing your workflow. If it does not fit the way you work, there is no obligation at all.
How much does a licence cost?
The trial is free. Licence prices and what each plan includes are listed on the Pricing & licences page.
How do I pay for a licence?
From Serbia by a payment in dinars (the dinar equivalent), from abroad by an international bank transfer in EUR or USD. The payment details are on the Pricing & licences page. After the payment you receive a licence key and activate the program on your computer.
Does it support SHOUTcast and Icecast?
Yes. The encoder works with SHOUTcast and Icecast servers; you need to enter the server details and use a format and codec that the specific server accepts. Streaming encoder
Which audio formats are available for streaming?
MP3 and the AAC family, depending on the available encoder components. When FDK AAC is available, the application distinguishes between AAC-LC, AAC+ (HE-AAC v1) and AAC++ (HE-AAC v2). The system checks the actual availability of each profile instead of showing non-existent support as active.
What happens if the stream drops?
The streaming service tries to reconnect on its own, and a problem with the network stream does not interrupt local playback. You can also set up a phone notification for when the problem lasts longer than a set time.
Can it send the song title to the server?
Yes. Metadata is passed on to the encoder and the server, so a compatible web player shows what is currently on air.
Can I see the number of listeners?
If the server provides the appropriate status, the application shows the current count, peak and maximum. If the server does not provide the data, the application does not make it up. Listeners and reports
What if silence occurs on air?
Air Safety monitors prolonged silence and warns you according to the configured threshold. This is a separate function from the silence trim within songs. Air Safety
Can I get a phone notification if the stream is down?
Yes, via ntfy and Telegram notifications, with a setting for how many minutes a stream problem must last before it is reported.
